We started our new topic in Sunday School Class yesterday which is the Book of Isaiah. My husband and I both enjoyed the class immensely and got much out of it. It was refreshing to hear God's Word and to see it applied for the day in which we live.
We talked about the first Chapter of Isaiah and I would encourage you to read it. It says in verse 4 of Chapter One:
"Woe to the sinful nation, a people whose quilt is great, a brood of evildoers,
children given to corruption! They have forsaken the LORD; they have spurned
the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him."
The people of Judah were sinning greatly and didn't seem to concerned about it. They had become a rebellious nation. After you read the entire chapter ask yourself what nation it currently reminds you of ?
Note verse 7, "Your country is desolate, your cities burned with fire; your fields are being stripped by foreigners right before you, laid waste as when overthrown by strangers." Again what nation comes to your mind in our current world?
Judah's society was most certainly in great upheaval. Sound familiar where you live?
God's calls us to repent and return to Him. But we don't do it and we continue living in sin and supporting it. We even make excuses to justify it.
God loves you and wants a relationship with you but sin hinders that. Repent and return to Him before it's too late.
As a result sometimes we must suffer judgment and discipline before we are restored to God.
